Life on earth depends on trees. They give life to wildlife across the world, provide oxygen, store carbon and stabilise the soil. They are also vital for saving our warming planet.

Trees take in carbon through their trunks, branches, leaves, and roots. Plant enough trees and they can have an incredible impact on tackling climate change by removing billions of tonnes of carbon. Trees also protect us from flooding. A single mature tree can absorb up to 450 litres into its roots every day!

As well as being amazingly efficient carbon-absorbing machines and wonderful for our physical environment, trees are also great for our mental wellbeing too. Being around trees reduces the levels of cortisol in our brains and improves symptoms of anxiety and stress. We are also more likely to go outside and exercise if there are lovely, welcoming trees and green spaces.
